Gazing out over twenty-five acres of sprawling vineyards in the Napa Valley, this wine-country retreat in St. Helena is imbued with sophisticated aesthetics and modern-day amenities, making it suitable as both a primary residence and capacious vacation home.
The modern crafted tone is set right at the gatehouse, with its large steel gates and custom gabions made of hand-stacked blue stone. The estate itself is comprised of a main residence (6,000 square feet), guest house (3,000 square feet), spa cottage, two swimming pools, and a sports court and putting green.
Massive walls that continue from the inside to the exterior are clad in a cool, brushed travertine marble called "Silver Wave", while the indoor-outdoor connection is similarly underscored by Italian porcelain floors that flow over the threshold from the main rooms to the large decks and plaza. The marble and tiling are warmed by the figured French walnut used throughout the project - whose texture and patterning layer in an organic element that speaks to the natural surroundings.
Amongst the many special amenities - and a focal point of the entryway - is a custom-conditioned wine room with suspended racking system. One-of-a-kind rugs and furnishings and a singular art collection conspire to create comfortable, transporting places to work, relax, meditate, and gather with friends.
